What we do

Innovative Counseling Services, LLC is here to provide excellent therapeutic techniques to individuals in the Hampton Roads area in need of mental health counseling services. We will provide “innovative” services to our clients, which consists of original and new cutting edge counseling strategies. In doing so our goal is to equip them with the tools that they need in order to live healthy and productive lifestyles.

It is our mission to teach strategies that our clients are able to incorporate into their daily lifestyles, environments and relationships with others. We believe that all individuals and families can obtain the tools needed to thrive and be successful. At Innovative Counseling our programs are created to build the skills in the areas of their lives that need to be strengthened. We are dedicated to helping you and your families thrive in every area of your lives.

Meet Our Team

Alafeya Bailey LCSW

Alafeya Bailey is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and co-founder of Innovative Counseling Services, LLC. Alafeya Bailey attended Limestone College in Columbia, SC, where she received a Bachelors of Social Work degree. Later she went on earn a Masters of Social Work degree from Barry University. Alafeya has over 10 years’ experience working with children, adults and elderly population to provide mental health services in a variety of settings. These settings include outpatient therapy, home health, community based social work and working with incarcerated individuals. Alafeya's belief is that everyone deserves to be happy and that in order to experience true happiness one must have a healthy mind, body and spirit.

Shareca Hunte LPRC

Shareca Akines is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She received a Masters degree in Marriage and Family: Human Services and a MA in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. She enjoys working with youth, adults and families. Her life's mission has been to help others create strong and healthy relationships. Her experience includes many years of serving the community through counseling individuals, conducting therapeutic group sessions and educating youth and families using various counseling modalities. Shareca has also held many leadership roles to help organize and manage various mental health programs such as Life Coaching, Youth Director, Community Services Director and Mental Health Skill Building Services Supervisor. It is with great joy that she continues to serve in helping others create healthy environments for themselves and others.

Effie Alford, LMSW

Effie received her Bachelor of Science in Social Work degree from Limestone College in Gaffney, SC and later receiving a Master of Art in Social Work from Austin Peay/Tennessee State University Collaborative Social work program. Effie has over 10 years’ experience in mental health therapy working with active-duty military/veterans/individual/youth/family in both inpatient/outpatient and community settings. Effie believes that individuals all have the capacity to change and she will provide a warm and understanding therapeutic environment where clients can feel comfortable.

Johnell Judkins, MSW, QMHP-T

Johnell is a passionate therapist dedicated to helping her clients achieve positive change, personal empowerment, and holistic well-being. She recieved a Masters in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University.Johnell understands no two individuals are alike, so she’s adopted an eclectic therapeutic approach. Drawing from various therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive-Behavioral, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness, she tailors her methods to suit your unique needs and preferences. Shes brings with her the unique perspective of her lived experiences as a black woman, and a deep understanding how cultural nuances shape our lives.
